After a large part of the typographically printed German cultural heritage of the 17th century has been cataloged in a database in VD 17, this cultural heritage is to be made digitally accessible in a second step. Within the next few years, the majority of the more than 300,000 titles recorded in VD 17 should be available digitally. This task can only be accomplished cooperatively. In 2010, the supporting and partner libraries drew up a joint master plan for the digitization of VD 17, which envisaged the digitization of around 90 percent of the editions recorded in VD 17 by 2020.
